Nice to Meet You!
I always knew that construction was my passion. When I was 10 years old, my parents hired a man to convert our screen porch into a family room with a cool wood-burning stove, needed for living up in New England. I literally sat on the door stoop all day long watching Mr. Podowski work on the new family room. I would always ask him questions, and he loved to answer them. I think he knew I would become a contractor. After the project was completed, I said to my mother that I was going to be a Contractor one day. She replied, “you can do anything you set your mind to.” So here we are, 48 years later!
My Story
In high school, I loved woodshop. Back in the ’70s, we had a full operational workshop in school. We would build cutting boards; they even had a Grandfather clock kit that we could purchase and assemble. It was very natural for me to work with the shop equipment. I felt very comfortable in that element. During my high school years, I worked for a remolding company that was made up of 3 brothers, the oldest having served in the Army. He taught me the phrase “No excuse sir” To this day it’s a motto of mine. For any project that I’m involved in, I take complete responsibility for it and the customer always comes first.
I joined the U.S. Navy Seabees on December 11th, 1981, one month after my 18th birthday. The Seabees is a specialized combat construction force of the Navy. We were trained to fight in combat and build anything from runways to barracks. This five-year tenure solidified my future in the construction industry. I’ve spent over 30 years in residential and light commercial construction since. My wife, Leigh Ann, and I moved to the Tri-Cities, TN area back in the end of 2019 to be closer to her family. I really love this area and have enjoyed the renovation market.
What Working With Me Looks Like
Step one: Meet at the building site
We meet at the building site and review your design ideas. I evaluate the space and visualize the proposed outcome of the project.
step two: Develop a plan
I’ll then develop an architectural plan, reviewing as many times as needed to perfect the final design.
step three: put together an estimate
Depending on the size of the project, we’ll either do a Fixed bid price or the traditional Cost Plus.
Step four: construction begins
Once we’ve come to an agreement, we pull the required permits and start the construction process.
Step five: revise and adjust
We have as many meetings and walk-throughs as you need and make any revisions needed to ensure you’re happy.
Step six: project wrap-up!
We wrap up the project with a final punch list to make sure everything is perfect with your new home updates.
